Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Protected Left mobile application ("the App") handles your information. The App is operated by [Your Legal Name / LLC] ("we," "us," or "our").

The short version: Protected Left is designed to collect as little as possible. Your location stays on your device and is sent to Mapbox only to compute routes. We don't sell your data. We don't sell ads.

1. Information we collect

Location data. When you use the App, your device's GPS coordinates are used to determine your position, find routes, and provide turn-by-turn navigation. Location data is sent to Mapbox to compute directions and to show search results, but is not stored by us on any server we control.

Search history and saved places. Addresses you search for and places you save (home, work, favorites) are stored only on your device using the operating system's secure local storage. They are not uploaded to us.

Subscription status. If you purchase Pro, RevenueCat (our subscription provider) stores an anonymous user ID and your subscription state so we can grant access to Pro features. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or other personal information unless you contact us for support.

Crash and diagnostic data. If you have crash reporting enabled in the App, anonymized crash reports may be sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. These reports do not include your location or search history.

Analytics. The App may log anonymous usage events (for example: "user opened paywall," "user completed a route") to PostHog to help us understand how the App is used. These events do not include your location or destinations.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • Your name, email address, or phone number (unless you contact support)
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone input, or other device content
  • Browsing history outside the App
  • Your Apple ID or payment information

Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

4. How long we keep data

Data on your device stays on your device until you delete the App or clear it within the App (Settings → Clear search history). Anonymized analytics events are retained by PostHog for up to 12 months.

5. Your choices

  • Disable location: you can revoke location permission in iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Protected Left. The App will not function without it.
  • Opt out of analytics: you can disable analytics in the App's Settings screen.
  • Delete your data: uninstalling the App removes all local data. To delete any subscription records held by RevenueCat, email us.

6. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

7. California and EU residents

If you are a California resident (CCPA) or EU resident (GDPR), you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Because we hold minimal personal data, most requests will consist of deleting your RevenueCat subscription record. Contact us at the address below.

We do not sell personal information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
